Grounds Trophy
With a moderate breeze, there were a record 12 boats lining up
for the start of the first race. Will Cook (Laser) finished first,
but Hastings (Solo) won on handicap with Robin Wilson (Laser)
taking third place.
A
frustratingly slow race after lunch saw Hastings again dominant
and he took first place. Michael Neaverson, on his return
from harvest, sailed a fantastic race to come home second, with
Cook third.
The standings after race two saw Hastings in a fairly unassailable
lead, but the rest of the fleet had all to play for. Cook and
Ed Holliday got a good start, with Hastings leading the rest of
the fleet close behind. A short race with a slightly stronger
breeze saw very few changes in the running order. After handicap
adjustments the day ended with Hastings in first, Cook second
and Neaverson third.
The main sailing season continues for another couple of months
with club visits to Ferry Meadows and King's Lynn.
During August, two members took part in Brancaster Sailing Week
off the North Norfolk coast and congratulations should go to Robin
Wilson who came second overall for the week and Neal Tack who
came fifth overall.
Club
Visit to Hunstanton
On
Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th the club visited Hunstanton
Sailing club as part of the North West Norfolk sailing week. Andy
and Cahrlotte Prior competed in the Gill National 12 class, Chris
Prior and Ed Holliday in the Laser fleet and Simon Hastings (Solo),
Richard Thacker and Tom Bell (Wayfarer) and Robin Wilson all competed
in the handicap fleet. Saturday saw glorious weather and a force
3 whilst Sunday was just as warm the wind picked up to an exciting
force 4. All club members sailed well on unfamilier waters with
the best result being a 3rd place for Simon Hastings on the Saturday
races
